What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy can help improve or restore the mobility you need to continue with your life, as well as be a possible alternative to surgery and/or pain medication.

What do Physical Therapists do?

Physical therapists are health care professionals who maintain, restore, and improve movement, activity, and health.  This allows an individual to have optimal functioning and quality of life. Physical therapists evaluate, diagnose, and manage individuals of all ages who have impairments, physical limitations, and activity participation restrictions.  Physical therapists also promote health, wellness, and fitness through risk factor identification in order to slow the progression of or prevent functional decline and disability.

Physical therapists can teach you how to prevent or manage a health condition and help motivate you during your treatment so you can function properly in your daily life.  Your physical therapist will work with you to help you understand your body so you will achieve long-term health benefits.  Physical therapists screen, evaluate, diagnose, and design a plan of care that attempts to solve the underlying issues of the problem using evidenced based practice currently available.  Physical therapists use a variety of treatment methods to accomplish your goals that help you move better than before, reduce pain, restore function during activities of daily living, and prevent the possibility of long term disability
